IUCB Faculty Investigator Lauren Nephew, MD, MSc, MA has contributed to the development of a new clinical decision instrument, CRISPE. Developed to predict mortality rates for cirrhosis patients seeking emergency care, this tool outperformed traditional MELD scores, offering improved accuracy and aiding in critical risk stratification and disposition decisions. This clinical decision instrument may be useful in risk-stratifying ED patients with cirrhosis and aiding disposition decision making, however still requires external validation.
